This week we are working on figurative language in both our fiction and non-fiction texts. Vocabulary Our vocabulary for the week is all figurative language terms: Metaphor Onomatopoeia Allusion Hyperbole Simile Assonance Juxtaposition Alliteration Personification Irony We will be directly working on these words using Flocabulary during class. Our class code on Flocabulary is BJQBKB. Definitions and other review activities are available in the Flocabulary lesson. All 6 activities are assigned and are due this Friday, February 14. The schedule for assignments based on this is as follows: Monday: Comprehension Quiz Tuesday: Text based evidence Wednesday: Sort and Analyze Figurative Language Thursday: Test Review (no informational work due today) Friday: Test All of these assignments will be done in class, but are homework if they are not finished. They are all due no later than Friday, February 14. Literature Study We will be reading through chapter 6 this week in our class novel. We complete graphic notes as we read and will go over them Thursday. Here is a guide for what we should read this week: Monday: pg. 82-92 Tuesday: pg. 93-103 Wednesday: pg. 104-114 Thursday: pg. 115-121 and review notes Friday: Test includes questions about novel If any student is behind in the reading or needs extra help or time on any activity, please come before or after school any day for extra time or assistance. Please note I have meetings on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings and will be unavailable 8:20-9:15 on these days.
